What causes most misunderstandings, arguments, and frustrations?...
Communication.
Your level of income is directly tied to your level of communication.
Yet, many Loan Officers invest zero time leveling up in this area.
Years ago, I created a one sheet document called:
“The 10 Communication Commandments”
It has been a game changer for me, my personal production team, and our internal team at GO! Coaching.
Some even have it printed, laminated and pinned on the wall.
Here they are, I suggest having your team review and sign it!
- We don't use "dot dot dot" statements and leave people confused or wanting more, we are concise.
- We proofread our emails, we proofread our emails...before hitting send, measure twice, cut once.
- We use layman's terms, our customers are not industry folks, cut the acronyms and vernacular.
- We do not share personal issues with outsiders as an excuse for mistakes, delays, etc.
- We don't use powerless words: "we should be fine" or "I will try to call you today"
- We end every call with: "is there anything else I can do for you? [pause, listen]. Are you sure?"
- We don't let emails sit, we acknowledge receipt as silence is NOT golden.
- We are not curt, we're warm and carry a tone of gratitude, always!
- We are proactive, if we are asked for status, we "lose".
- We use time zones on everything (i.e. 9am CST).
And remember…the more we master communication, the more everyone wins.
