Are you part of the 14%?

[BRANDING FOR THE LO LAUNCH LETTER SUPERSTAR]

Read time: 4 minutes

By February 4th, 86% of Americans have broken their New Year's resolution.

  • 100 people have big goals
  • 80 of them never even start
  • 10 of them give up within weeks
  • 9 of them give up within months
  • 1 of them persists and persists for years

There's less competition than you think.

99% of success is not talent, but consistency.

I was part of the 86% for years, super frustrating.

Let’s both be part of the 14%.

Our future self, family and even closest friends will benefit from us hitting our goals and leveling up.

It’s “half-time” and July is a great time to reflect on our year-to-date accomplishments, reset (if needed) and review the 2nd half.

About 10 years ago, I learned how to professionally set goals and it has changed my life (no exaggeration).

And now I’m here to share it with you.

Here’s my 5-step goal setting system:

1. Write Two Major Goals

Start with the outcome in mind, for example:

1. Generate 50 Organic Leads Monthly

2. Secure 5k Organic Followers on Instagram

2. Write Five Major Activities for those Two Goals

Establish activities that are specific, firm, and congruent with your Two Major Goals (this is where most people’s activities misalign with the intended outcome)

Goal #1: Generate 50 Organic Leads Monthly:

1a. 5 1:1 BBs (Break Breads) weekly, without fail

1b. 60 V2V’s (Voice-to-Voices) weekly, without fail

1c: 15 F2Fs (Face-to-Faces) weekly, without fail

1d: 1 Event hosted or attended weekly, without fail

1e: 10 Cold Calls weekly, or I work Saturday

Goal #2: Secure 5k Organic Follower on Instagram:

2a. Consume 1-2 hours of IG education weekly

2b. Create 3-4 videos weekly

2c: Converse 30 minutes daily with large accounts

2d. Post 5-7 stories weekly

^notice how visceral the activity is?

Now, here is where most fail (but not you):

3. Time Block the Five Major Activities:

Goal #1: Generate 50 Organic Leads Monthly:

Mon–Fri: Lunch at 1–2pm (never eat alone)

Mon–Fri: Power Hour 10–11am (phones sing, I bling)

Mon–Sat: 1 Event TBD (more handshakes, more money makes)

Pro Tip: The key is to complete your away from your normal desk area (change your environment for these calls).

Goal #2: Secure 5k Organic Follower on Instagram:

Mon–Fri: Social Listening & Selling at 7am-8am

Wednesday: Content “Power Hour” 10-11am

Saturday: IG Course Study (one hour)

Remember: people protect priorities. Time block your key activities.

4. Time Block a “Sunday Ritual” to Review and Preview

Set aside an hour on Sundays to review the week before and preview the week ahead.

This has not only improved my Mondays, it’s made them one of my favorite days of the week now.

My Mondays are like Tuesdays, I am a day ahead.

5. Have an “Accounta-buddy”

Motivation without education is discouragement.

And unfortunately, education without accountability is weak.

Submit your results publicly with a friend or paid coach.

Pay your weekly success "rent".

It's not owned until it's part of your identity.

So, with all of that said…

Here are your action steps for today:

1. Time block an hour to complete this exercise

2. Print it out and have pinned on the wall

3. Get an Accounta-buddy!

I hope this impacted you today!

Feel free to forward this to a friend, but most importantly remember: you have greatness in you, don’t waste it.

P.S. If you think writing out your goals won’t make a difference, don’t take it from me then.

Professor at Virginia Tech, Dave Kohl, says that people who regularly review their written goals earn 9x as much as people with unwritten goals. Wow.

Whenever you’re ready, here’s how I can help you!
